Our Elders
As modeled by the church of the New Testament, the church at Saraland is led by Elders, acting as shepherds of the spiritual flock. These men are appointed by the local congregation based on the qualifications found in the Bible, Titus 1: 5-16 and 1 Timothy 3: 1-7. The elders are pastors or overseers who serve under the headship of Christ according to the New Testament. They are to seek, in all matters, the mind of Christ who is the Head of the Church, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. They are to teach and exhort the church in sound doctrine and refute those who contradict the truth. Elders are to lead by example and will provide instruction for “equipping the saints for the work of ministry” as well as provide the edification needed for healthy relationships within the church (Ephesian 4:11-12). They will appoint deacons or ministers as is necessary to accomplish the mission of the church.
