2009 1000 Voices

This year the 1000 Voices event will be held on November 6th, 7th and 8th in Kernersville, NC.

Members from the Saraland congregation plan to attend this year. Travel arrangements and hotels can be viewed from the 1000 Voices website. The cost and free and the weekend will be packed with workshops and singing.

How do we stimulate our spiritual life. All this talk of how to fix our economic woes, are most often rooted in some underlying spiritual and emotions issues. A few recommendations:

Talk to your debtor – Spend time in meditation and prayer
Pay your debts – do something good for someone day and live more like Christ
Save for the future – Focus on others and not yourself
Educate yourself – develop a habit of reading your Bible daily for 30 mins

Angels and Demons

Dan Brown’s novel Angels and Demons has been made into a movie and will be released this spring. His sequal “The DaVinci Code” was a hugely popular book and movie a few years ago. One of the interesting things about both books is the author goes to great lenght in the Prologue to try to convince the reader that everything in the book (except the story line) is factual. READER BEWARE – as entertaining as the books may be, they are in fact FICTION and even minor architectural details are inaccurate. Given that warning, the reader should be aware that the religious consipiracy storyline…is in fact that – a story.
